Hi, I am interested in making my own Didge, can you tell me what type of wood to use and where to get it, I live in the uk.
Thanks Karl for the email, I reccomend you try Yew, you should be able to source Yew 'blanks' from a good quality Timber merchant such as Alsfords Timber
Did you know that the vikings used Yew as nails in theire long boats, also Yew was used in the UK to make long bows |

Hi, I am interested in learning to play the Didge but am put off with the prices of Didges I have found, can you suggest any cheaper allternative for someone wanting to learn?
Thanks James for the email, the cheapest alternative is by using home made materials. PVC pipe is commonly used to learn on. 1 1/4" (32mm) soil pipe is good. Cut to length to get the right key. You can also play around by bending and shaping it by heating (low heat such as gas hob). Have a look at Rob Mantz's website as describes what and how to do as well as having some phoyto's.
